Natural Printing: Plant Patterns on Fabric and Paper


Goals:

Contents:


1. Workshop Introduction:

  • Welcome participants and explain the goal of the workshop

  • Brief explanation of the creative process and natural printing techniques.

  • Inspiration through examples of finished prints.


2. Material Knowledge:

  • Introduction to the required materials: various plants (leaves, flowers, branches), fabrics (cotton, linen), and paper.

  • Explanation of which plants are particularly suitable and which textures create interesting prints.

  • Discussion of colors and tools: textile paints, acrylic paints, brushes, rollers, printing plates, etc.


3. Plant Collection and Selection:

  • A short excursion (if possible), where participants can collect plants from the surrounding area.

  • Tips on selecting plants: texture, shape, and stability of leaves and flowers.


4. Preparation of Plants and Materials:

  • Demonstration of how to prepare the plants: drying, moistening, or fixing for a better imprint.

  • Preparation of the printing surfaces (fabric or paper).


5. Basics of Printing:

  • Step-by-step instructions for the printing process:

         1. Paint the plants or place them on a printing plate.

         2. Place the plants onto the paper or fabric and press with a roller or by hand.

         3. Remove the plants and observe the resulting pattern.

  • Tips on color choice and experimenting with different plant textures.


6. Design Techniques and Variations:

  • Combining different plants to create complex patterns and textures.

  • Techniques such as layering or multi-color printing.

  • Introduction to symmetry, repeating patterns, and individual creative compositions.


7. Create Your Own Artwork:

  • Participants create their own works on fabric or paper.

8. Post-Processing and Fixation:
